Anyone needs a relaxing day at the beach? Portugal is home to some truly epic beach scenery: endless beaches, golden sand, incredible cliffs, cold water and rolling waves. You’re gonna love it!
Here are 10 of the most beautiful beaches in the country, from the relaxing and wild Praia de Cordoama to the postcard fishing village of Carvoeiro and the red cliffs at Praia da Galè.
#1 PRAIA DA MARINHA
Let’s start from the most iconical beach of the Algarve. If you’re searching for recommendation for best beaches in Algarve Praia da Marinha features in every single post. Figuring out why is easy: soft sand and crystal clear water set between scenic golden cliffs. Do not miss the view from the top of the cliff!

#2 PRAIA DE CORDOAMA
If you like remote, rough and wild beaches you have just found the right place. This is a big beach and is surrounded by impressive cliffs. This beach is so big, long and remote that you’ll find only a few people here.. If you need relax and privacy this is for you!

#3 PRAIA DO CAMILO
One of the most recognisable symbols of Algarve is Praia do Camilo. The incredible rock formations and the blue water make this place unmissable. Remember to check tide times, high tide makes this beach really tiny and crowdy. And, if you need more privacy, Camilo beach has a tunnel through the rock wall that takes you to a smaller beach next to it.

#4 PRAIA DA GALE
This is probably our favorite praia in Portugal, it not well-knowned so let’s keep this secret between us. This is a long (very long) sandy beach with a stunning red cliff on the back. The most relaxing place in Portugal!

#5 PRAIA DONA ANA
This Praia is very beautiful, has an incredibly photogenic setting and their cliffs provide shelter from the wind. However, it can be really crowdy because is very close to the city center of Lagos. Our suggestion is to go early in the morning and spend a few hours here anyway, you’ll not regret it!

#6 PRAIA DA BORDEIRA
How to describe this Praia in three words? Unspoiled, wild and huge. It is mainly popular with surfers and nature lovers. If you are looking for the perfect place for a long beach walk, Bordeira is the place for you! A stroll on this 3 km of soft sands and cold ocean water are the perfect way to start a day!

#7 PRAIA DO CARVALHO
Well, the big rock in the water right in front of the beach make this place really unique. This Praia is relatively quiet cause there are no hotels or resorts directly on the beach. It is in the middle of the Percurso do Sete Vales Suspenso (which is probably our favorite things to do in Portugal), you should give it a chance!

#8 PRAIA DE ALBANDEIRA
This Praia might not be quite as well-known as its neighboor but, trust us, this is one of the best kept secrets the Algarve has to offer. This golden sandy beach is quite small so, come early if you want to earn the best spot.

#9 PRAIA DO BELICHE
If you are in Sagres you cannot miss this beach! Praia do Beliche is surrounded by impressive 40 metres tall cliffs on both sides, forming a wonderful bay. To access the beach, you have to go down a long stairway (around100 steps). However, the walk is well worth the effort! There are rarely big crowds here and the cliffs protect the beach from the wind so you can relax at 360°.

#10 PRAIA DO CARVOEIRO
The fishing village of Carvoeiro is surely the most picturesque town in the Algarve with its white houses set into the cliffs. It can be crowdy during high season but you cannot miss the postcard view of the beach from the above.
